I’ve had this little gift completed for a bit, waiting for delivery.
The dress is the geranium pattern from Made By Rae. I used the 0-3 month size. It’s definitely worth buying the entire pattern (so many sizes, so many options, and great directions), but Rae does offer the 0-3 month size in her free little geranium pattern. The flower fabric was from my stash with a Robert Kaufman lawn for the lining and pockets. I did move the buttons just a bit closer to the edge from her markings but followed everything else as written. I don’t have a serger and wasn’t wild about my zigziag finishing job on the inside of the skirt pieces. It occurred to me (too late) that this would probably be a great place for french seems. Next time!
Making a 0-3 month size isn’t terribly practical, but it sure was fun.
I also made some little shoes to go with. Es always kicked off her baby shoes, but I want to try a few different patterns and see if there are some that actually stay on. This is the forget me knot pattern from Shwin & Shwin. The pattern instructions are quite brief (they authors warn that this pattern is not intended for beginners) and you need to have some sewing background to make these work. But they actually came together quite well and the pattern is darn cute. The pattern comes in three sizes so I can see this being a good go-to pattern for baby girl shoes. And with a different strap, maybe for boy shoes.
Making tiny things is such fun!
